“MiTale – Interactive Speech Therapy Environment” develops new services and effective solutions for children with speech development challenges by using gamification technologies. We wish to integrate the speech therapy methods with mobile games playability value, focusing on the mindset of mobile game players – seeking entertainment that is easy to play, having fun and interactive content that is suitable for all age groups. Mobile games still have growing market demand and in most recent reports from gaming industry we can see that the educational content is being increasingly implemented with the game based methods of engagement. Here we see a great potential in providing new medium for speech therapy, wellbeing and learning practices by fusing them together with the latest available technology such as speech recognition, augmented and virtual reality.
Our solution is breaking the norms in treating communication boundaries that commonly lead to social exclusiveness. We make communicating easy, especially for those who need the assistance most.
This project combines the expertise of many different disciplines and business model that develop scalable international serious games solutions for speech therapy utilization. As the result this project offers more options for the eases in developing speech in children, having in mind the healthcare professional’s work load. In addition, the project targets to provide support for the Finnish health-care service industry in an endeavor to become World’s top provider of gamified healthcare solutions in speech development.
